Borderlands DLC: Mad Moxxi
Sean and I completed the Hell-Burbia round of the new Borderlands DLC. I played a little by myself and found it be different than what I was expected. Then I played with Sean and it really got more fun. I was expecting it to be like those little missions where you just have to beat three waves of baddies and that's that. Hell-Burbia has full buildings to take cover in, and the enemies don't just relentlessly come after you. They also take cover and try to snipe you. Not sure how the other rounds are, but Hell-Burbia took us about 40 minutes to beat.

Zeno Clash Review

Hello friends.
Today we will be talking about the fabulous game called Zeno Clash made by ACE Team. It is a source mod set in a whimsical and fantastic world inhabited by all sorts of strange creatures and people. The environments, characters, and visuals are diverse and extremely impressive. This game is beautiful. You will have several "Oh shit!" *points at screen* moments.

There is an old PC adventure game called The Neverhood. I felt like some of the environments were reminiscent of that. The level design is very well thought out, but can be linear at times. It doesn't detract though. The characters are imaginative and all have unique personalities. The voice acting is good, though I did not care for the main character's voice. The dialogue can be lame at times, but there is also humor. The curse word in this world is "kak." It's funny when they say it. The sound effects and music are superb and help set the tone and heighten the drama. I want to kiss this game on the mouth because it is so pretty.

You start the game by learning how to kick chickens. You are then thrown directly into a fight and the action begins. Before I get to that, I'd like to comment that the story is pretty damn good. I'll let you play the game rather then tell you the story. It is told through a series of long flashbacks. That's neat. Anyway, back to the kicking and punching. The main method of combat in this game is hand to hand combat. The game will teach you as you go. I feel like people would either love it or hate it. I had no issue with the system, but some may find it clunky. It's fun to use different combos and vary the strength of your punches. Additionally there are weapons like bone-swords, skull grenades, and fish-pistols. The design on these is great. Some of the fights get tough towards the end and it makes it really challenging and fun.

Additionally there is a challenge mode where you are timed and have to fight on several stories to the top of a tower . There are five different difficulties I believe. You can compare your times with your steam friends. This game has Sandpeople. It took me about five hours to play through. I did it in one sitting since it was so fun. Right now it is $15 on Steam. I purchased it on sale for about 5 dollars, so I suggest you wait for a sale unless you have the extra money. It is worth it. Highly recommended.

Trine
Hello friends. I have just completed the game Trine. I'm going to tell you about it.

Trine is a game in which you play as three characters. You are a knight, a thief, and a wizard. Something happens in the beginning of the game which causes all three characters to become one, thus allowing you to switch between them at any time during the game. This allows you to utilize their different skills. The thief has a grappling hook that allows you to attach to and swing from wooden surfaces. You eventually have to become very skilled with the right click and time things just right or you will fall into lava or sludge and die. It's fun. The knight is primarily for combat situations - he has a shield and sword. You can also get a lightning hammer. The wizard has the ability to conjure boxes and platforms into existence, allowing you to traverse gaps and move onward. He can also use magic to manipulate and move existing structures. This is very fun and can make for some very interesting puzzles. There are checkpoints scattered across the levels and if one of your characters dies, you can go touch it and they will be revived.

The story is told by a fellow who sounds like he should be narrating a LOTR movie. It's a good thing. It's a good story. It pretty much serves as a backdrop to the gameplay and doesn't really interfere with your puzzle solving and skeleton killing. The main enemies are skeletons, but there are also mini-bosses and bats. I hate the bats. The bats are awful and will swarm you and kill you and I hate them. There are fifteen total levels and the total game took me 6.5 hours to play though. The sound is crisp and the characters have unique voices and personalities. The variety of scenery is very nice and I think the art style is fantastic. It has that fantasy feel. Click on the pictures and look at them. Did you play the game made by Westwood Studios called Nox? Well I did and this game reminds me of it.

So as you traverse the various stages, you can collect experience (the green stuff) and level up your characters. Each has three different skills, two of which you have to find in the treasure chests scattered across the maps. You can also find items in the chests that will enhance your characters health or their skills. These become very helpful in the later stages as the enemies get tougher and tougher. There are also steam achievements to get if you're into that kind of thing. It has co-op play, but I'm not sure what that is about. We could figure that out if you buy it.

I liked Trine very much. In fact, I adored Trine. It was adorable. It was very fun. It was engaging. I paid 10 dollars for Trine. It was on sale. It retails for twenty dollars. You can buy it here. Is it worth twenty dollars? I don't really think so. It was very fun, but only lasted for 6.5 hours. You could try the demo. I think you should definitely buy this game, but maybe wait until it goes on sale again.

I started playing Machinarium last night
I started playing Machinarium last night and I had to stop and catch myself. I almost played for two hours and I didn't even realize it. The puzzles are really cute, just like the characters. You really have to think outside of the box to get each set done. There is a little light bulb at the top that will give you one visual clue. Or you can play a little mini-arcade game to get a play-by-play, visual walk-through. Pretty creative actually. You have to pay attention to almost everything in each screen. Even then...sometimes you have to go back five screens and pick up something you didn't even notice the first time through. You should try it. It's basically just a big Flash game, so it was easy for them to put a demo up. You can play the game demo.
If you buy the game, here's an early hint: 5:45.

Braid: A Review
A week or so ago Braid was discounted to five dollars on Steam. I had heard good things and enjoy a good puzzle game from time to time so I bought it. It came highly recommended by Soulja Boy.

Anyway you basically play as this guy Tim and you are seemingly chasing a princess. There are six different worlds, each with a different time altering mechanic. You have to jump on enemies heads and get keys and play with the timing and time to get it right. It's very fun and some of the puzzles are very tough. The goal is to collect puzzle pieces and put them together to make a picture for each world which describes the theme. The story however, makes zero sense along the way. Not until the very end did it make some sense, and even then I had to go read a plot analysis to understand what was going on. I still think it's a stretch.

The graphics and music are fantastic. Each world looks like a watercolor painting and there is a certain mood that goes along with it. When you rewind time, the music plays backwards. That's really cool.
Besides the confusing story, it's a great game. So I'd recommend playing it, as it is short, beautifully presented, and very entertaining.
